Smucker Cuts Guidance with Weakness Widespread

Image Source: J. M. Smucker Company – IR Presentation By Callum Turcan J. M. Smucker Company (SJM) is known for its peanut butter (sold under such brands as Jif and Adams), jams (including its namesake Smucker’s offering and Knott’s Berry Farm products), coffees (such as Folgers and Café Bustelo), pet products (including Nature’s Recipe and Meow Mix), and more. The firm posted first quarter earnings for FY2020 (quarter ended July 31) on August 27 that upset the market and sent shares down more than 8% that day. Smucker’s revenue and earnings both missed estimates while management lowered the firm’s full year guidance for fiscal 2020. Smucker now expects its FY2020 EPS to come in at $8.35-$8.55/share, down from $8.45-$8.65/share previously. … Read more

Image: The Beyond Burger accounted for about 70% of the company’s sales in 2018. The big question: how big is Beyond Meat’s opportunity? Is it $5 billion or $1.5 trillion? By Valuentum Analysts Shares of Beyond Meat Inc (BYND), one of the fastest-growing plant-based meat companies, have exploded higher since the meatless-meat producer went public in May. While this isn’t a stock we normally would like given the short operating history and lofty market expectations, we wanted to draw attention to the enormous potential Beyond Meat is targeting. As of the market close on June 10, Beyond Meat had a market capitalization of $10.1 billion. We estimate that if Beyond Meat is able to generate an adjusted EBITDA margin in … Read more
