Honeywell’s Dividend Growth Supported by Promising Cash Flow Growth Outlook

Image Source: Honeywell International Inc – Second Quarter of 2021 IR Earnings Presentation By Callum Turcan We view Honeywell International Inc (HON) as one of the best industrial plays out there and include shares of HON as an idea in the Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolio. Honeywell has exposure to the aerospace and downstream energy markets–industries that were hit hard by the coronavirus (‘COVID-19’) pandemic but are now recovering in earnest–and to the proliferation of e-commerce and “smart buildings.”  Furthermore, in the event that a bipartisan infrastructure bill currently awaiting approval in the US House of Representatives gets signed into law, Honeywell has exposure to the expected surge in domestic infrastructure investments. Our fair value estimate for Honeywell sits at $240 … Read more

Boeing’s Financials Are Absolutely Frightening

By Brian Nelson, CFA On November 18, 2020, Boeing (BA) announced that the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) withdrew its order that had grounded its 737-8s and 737-9s (737 MAX) that had been involved in two terrible accidents during the past few years, a Lion Air flight that killed 189 people and an Ethiopian Airlines jet crash that claimed the lives of 157 more. We’ll never forget these tragedies and the impact on the families and the aviation industry, more generally.   In January 2017, we had added Boeing to the Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolio, but we had removed it March 16, 2018, prior to the unfortunate and high-profile accidents that occurred several months after. During the short time it … Read more

Two Exciting Names for Your Radar: PENN, SPCE

“Davey the Day Trader” meets space flight in this article that sums up the goings-on at two exciting companies, Penn National and Virgin Galactic. We think shares of PENN are fairly valued at the moment, and we won’t be taking a “flier” on Virgin Galactic, but we still think it is one worth watching. By Brian Nelson, CFA Penn National Gaming (PENN) Image Source: Penn National Gaming Dave Portnoy, “Davey the Day Trader,” has taken the investment community by storm, and not just because he lost a cool mil on Remark (MARK). Fair Value Estimates Matter – Case Study: Boeing

Image Source: Boeing’s share price converged to our estimate of intrinsic value in the summer of 2019. The plane maker continues to navigate tumultuous skies with its 737 MAX. By Brian Nelson, CFA Dow Jones Industrial Average component Boeing (BA) continues to dominate news headlines, and not for good reason. Let’s revisit our March 2019 article for some background: The news for Boeing hasn’t been this bad since the doldrums of the 787 Dreamliner build some years ago now. The 737 narrowbody, the line-up all over the news of late, is the workhorse of the industry, and Boeing’s next generation 737 MAX has been the fastest-selling plane in the aerospace giant’s history. Most countries around the globe, including the US, … Read more

Boeing Declares Victory But Farnborough Disappoints

Image Source: Boeing By Brian Nelson, CFA Nearly a decade ago, Boeing (BA) and Airbus (EADSY) made some big bets on the future. On one hand, Boeing envisioned a world of increasing point-to-point travel requiring wide-body aircraft with ultra-fuel efficient economics, laying the groundwork for the blueprint of the 787 Dreamliner, a mostly-composite aircraft. Airbus, on the other hand, had a different view of the future. The European plane maker believed that air travel would be dominated by the hub-and-spoke system where massive planes would be needed to transport passengers between global hubs. It decided to build the massive A380 superjumbo. If Boeing had not already declared victory, it can probably do so now. In mid-July, Airbus announced that it … Read more

Boeing’s Big Dividend Hike; Potential Deal with Embraer

We love Boeing. The company has been one of our favorites for years, but its performance during 2017 has simply been amazing. The dividend growth giant upped its payout in a big way recently, too, even as it is reportedly pursuing merger discussions with Embraer.
