Earnings Roundup for the Week Ended June 6
Image Shown: We highlight the operational and financial performance of four companies that recently reported earnings, which included periods of time where the ongoing coronavirus (‘COVID-19’) pandemic was present. US equity markets are melting upwards, and we remain “fully invested” in both the Best Ideas Newsletter and Dividend Growth Newsletter portfolios. We continue to prefer companies with high-quality cash flow profiles and net cash balances as the best way to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. May 19, 2020
Video: A Call for More Policy Action in a Post COVID-19 World
Image: There may no longer be any basis for believing in efficient markets. Investors were bidding up the price of the wrong company because of confusion over its ticker symbol. This is just one example of how markets are inefficient. Bailouts coupled with Fed and Treasury stimulus from COVID-19 will have profound implications on investment behavior, with expectations for indexing and quantitative strategies to continue to proliferate. New rules may be required to ensure that investors' interests are truly being put first. President of Valuentum Brian Nelson presents a call to action. Apr 28, 2020
Good News for Facebook Ahead of Earnings Report
Image Shown: Facebook Inc’s top-line has experienced meaningful growth in recent years. Image Source: Facebook Inc – Fourth Quarter and Full-Year 2019 Earnings IR Presentation. One of our favorite Best Ideas Newsletter portfolio holdings is Facebook, and we appreciate its pristine balance sheet (plenty of cash on hand and no debt on the books as of the end of 2019), promising growth trajectory (short-term headwinds aside, digital advertising is a secular growth market and likely to bounce back strongly once the pandemic subsides), and we would like to highlight that shares of FB trade at a meaningful discount to our fair value estimate (which sits at $234 per share) as of this writing. Recently, several things have happened that supports our thesis as to why Facebook is a stellar company which will cover in this note. The ongoing coronavirus (‘COVID-19’) pandemic will depress Facebook’s near-term performance, but the firm’s medium- and long-term outlook remains very promising. Mar 15, 2020
Fed Cuts 100 Basis Points, Launches More QE
“Now, stocks and other assets are being sold, some indiscriminately. It is truly becoming a stock pickers market as opposed to a quant-led and index-led market. It takes a different kind of bravery to buy on massive down days and one must have conviction in their research that the company will not go away if massive downside scenarios do in fact emerge.” – Matthew Warren. In this piece, we cover our assessment of what the global markets might be facing in a bull-case, base-case, and bear-case scenario. Our base case is a substantial recession in the US and a financial crisis of some unknown magnitude. Latest News and Media The High Yield Dividend Newsletter, Best Ideas
