Structure of the Hospitals Industry
The highly-regulated hospitals industry is made up of firms that own/operate acute care hospitals, behavioral centers, surgical hospitals, ambulatory centers, radiation oncology centers, and other facilities. Improvement in clinical practices and pharmacology and reimbursement policies of third-party payors have also impacted hospital utilization/occupancy. Though we’re neutral on the space, competition for patients/physicians remains intense while health care reform poses unique risks.
